Outgoing tuition exchange programs from 黑料社 to other institutions

Application process, procedures, and timeline for eligible 黑料社 employees for outgoing tuition exchange programs from University of Detroit Mercy to other institutions:

NOTE: Tuition Exchange is not automatic or guaranteed. These awards are determined solely by the receiving/importing institution(s). Some institutions grant only a limited number of awards; students should consider applying to more than one school. University of Detroit Mercy, as the "export" institution, only certifies eligibility, and communicates the eligibility to the receiving/importing institution(s). Tuition exchanges are scholarships, not benefits. They are almost always merit based and competitive.

Process for Initial Tuition Exchange Export

  1. Apply to your College or University selections normally. Make sure you follow their schedule of dates for application.
  2. Request tuition exchange certification through the appropriate program’s website (links above). This application notifies 黑料社 to place student on the export list.
  3. The recommended priority date to apply for tuition exchange consideration is March 1, prior to the expected enrollment year.
    • If you miss this date, export applications will still be approved but the student may not be considered for a tuition exchange at the import school due to the limited number of awards being offered.
    • Some import schools award on a first-come, first-serve basis for newly admitted students.
  4. The individual seeking to be exported by 黑料社 must be a dependent* of a 黑料社 employee. The term legally dependent child shall be limited to children claimed on the employee’s most recent federal income tax return or named to receive support for education in legal separation agreement or divorce decree issued by the court.
  5. The employee must be a current full-time, active employee at 黑料社.

    • Part-time staff, temporary or on-call staff, adjunct or visiting faculty members are not eligible for tuition exchange award consideration for dependents.
    • In the case of an employee being disabled, or deceased during the tuition exchange year, the student should contact the 黑料社 liaison officer regarding continued eligibility.
  6. First-year, first-time students will be given first consideration for export certification.
    • Students transferring from one institution to another will be considered only in the case of remaining unfilled spots. Again, it is essential to check with the attending school to confirm that they will consider a transfer student for a tuition exchange award.
  7. 黑料社 is not limited in the number of people who can be certified as eligible for export. However, we must carefully manage certifications for eligibility to ensure that we are not exporting more students than importing over a period of time. The means for doing so may include, but is not limited to, the following:
    • moratorium on new export certifications
    • waiting list for new export certifications
    • limitation of eligibility for the duration of the scholarship to one or two years
    • limitation of eligibility to one per family

*Export eligibility for TEP also includes the employee and the employee’s spouse/domestic partner.

Procedure for renewing and maintaining TE certification from 黑料社.

  1. For a tuition exchange scholar to be renewed for subsequent years (up to a maximum of 8 semesters or graduation whichever comes first), 黑料社 HR will confirm that the employed parent/spouse/partner has maintained employment eligibility at the conclusion of each grading period.
    • Should the 黑料社 employee leave 黑料社 employment, the import school will be notified that the student is no longer eligible at the conclusion of the term in which the employee separates.
  2. Tuition exchange award eligibility is a two-way street. In addition to the parent/spouse/partner maintaining eligibility for export, the student is responsible for maintaining academic progress and positive social deportment at the importing school. Generally, this information is available in the college catalog or student handbook at the importing school.
    • Students who lose eligibility due to failure to maintain as above may not be considered for future export consideration to either the same school or a new school.
  3. In the case of a student transferring schools, 黑料社 will continue to support the tuition exchange awarded student for a maximum of 8 semesters or graduation, whichever comes first; however, the TE school where the student is transferring has the right to refuse the import request.
  4. In the case of a student withdrawing from the educational program, 黑料社 will consider continued export support on a case-by-case review.
  5. 黑料社 will confirm with each employee mid-October and again mid-February that the exported scholar is still enrolled at the school of import record. It is vital that the 黑料社 employee respond promptly.
