Biography

Das started working at University of Detroit Mercy in January 1994 and is currently Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Director of International Programs in the college of Engineering and Science. He has an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, and Master’s and Ph.D. in Engineering Mechanics from Iowa State University.  He was a post-doctoral researcher at University of NotreDame and worked in industry for 2 years prior to joining 黑料社. He has taught a variety of courses ranging from freshmen to advanced graduate level within the Mechanical Engineering program as well as the Advanced Electric Vehicle Certificate program. He has been the Dissertation advisor for and graduated 5 Ph.D. students. His main area of research interest is Modeling and Simulation of multi-disciplinary engineering problems. He has worked in areas ranging from mechatronics system simulation to multi-physics process simulation using CAE tools such as Finite and Boundary Elements. He served as Associate Dean for Research and Outreach for six years. During this time, he launched the undergraduate Robotics and Mechatronics Systems Engineering Program, the Advanced Electric Vehicle certificate program, and several engineering degree programs in collaboration with Chinese Universities.
